The Rocky Horror Picture Show was released as a film based on the original stage productions in 1975 to a mostly negative critical reception. Fortunately for us, the movie began a midnight run at the Waverly Theater in New York City on April 1, 1976, and Rocky Horror as we know it began. Now, over thirty years later, theaters across the country still run the movie at midnight, with the same enthusiastic audience participation that began in New York.
Our Show Formal Dress Optional began as an offshoot of a cast that folded in 2002, called Sincere Lust. We have now been shadow acting the Rocky Horror Picture Show at Cinema Center 3 for seven years and still hold shows every Saturday night at 11:59pm. We encourage audience members to participate in the festivities, including dancing during the Time Warp, throwing props at each other (and you!), and generally having a good time. If you're overly conservative, thin-skinned or easily offended, this probably isn't the show for you. Rules and Regulations As liberal as we like to be, there are still some rules we have to follow for the good of the theater and state and federal law. The following will not be permitted at the show:
If you come to see our show, remember that 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' has an 'R' rating, and because our live performances often include castmembers dancing around in their underwear, you must be at least seventeen years of age to purchase your ticket. Valid photo ID will be checked at the ticket counter. High school and college IDs are NOT valid and will not be accepted. Older friends may not purchase tickets for younger friends. If you are not seventeen years of age, a legal parent or guardian must fill out a permission form to be handed in to the theater management no later than seven days before the day you wish to come and see the show. Directions and Maps Directions to our theater can be found on the Cinema Center 3 website. You can also see a Google map of where we're located. |
